Hello all, my name is Donna, a teacher, mother, sister and aunt.

My philosophy is based on the simple principles of life: love, happiness and giving. I strongly believe our world would be such a beautiful place if we understood and lived by these principles.

I have decided to take on the humble role of trustee in the charity because I understand the importance of reaching out to our fellow humans who are currently in a less favourable position than us. Jesus, in his mission on earth, reminded us how important it is to love our neighbour. It is a pleasure to be part of this noble charity.

Georgina Gweme
Trustee

Georgina is a history teacher in a secondary school. She became involved in Luhuvilo before becoming a trustee by raising money at the school with the students for the charity by selling food, cakes, T-shirts, and organising Black History Month events.

Jerry Gweme
Treasurer

Jerry has experience working with charities operating orphanages in Zambia and Tanzania. Jerry brings a wealth of experience in managing charity finances.

David Laing

I have been a trustee of the charity, The House of Luhuvilo, since its inception in 2016. It was born from a shared vision of creating a safe, loving and nurturing home for children in vulnerable circumstances, where they can feel secure, supported and hopeful about their futures.

Having worked in education for almost three decades, including in disadvantaged communities across South East London, I have seen the profound impact that inequality and limited access to opportunity can have on children’s lives. My experiences witnessing extreme poverty in Tanzania have further deepened my understanding of these challenges and strengthened my commitment to supporting the work of The House of Luhuvilo.

Every child deserves to grow up feeling loved and safe, with access to nutritious food, education and the opportunity to thrive. I am incredibly proud to play a small part in this.

Nicky Teverson

Hello, my name is Nicky, the Director and founder of The House of Luhuvilo.

I have worked with children all my life. I have three grown-up children. I trained as a paediatric nurse and worked for 18 years in places such as an orphanage in Calcutta, India, as well as general children’s wards in UK Hospitals. My last job as a nurse before training for ordination was a staff nurse in a children’s hospice. Since I became ordained, I have worked in a Parish for four years, pioneered work with young offenders and worked for 12 years as a School Chaplain at secondary schools in London. My work in Tanzania began with taking students to Mpwapwa over five years; it was here that the need for children’s care and education led me to Njombe. I am now retired, so I can devote my time to Luhuvilo.
